What is MLM?

YouTube video

MLM stands for multi-level marketing, a type of business system which is revolutionizing the way companies engage with customers and fellow entrepreneurs. The distributors earn a commission for each product they sell. They can also build a sales team and earn overrides.

Some examples of MLM companies include Herbalife, Amway Herbalife, and Avon Mary Kay. You can get almost any kind of product through MLM. Some examples are Health and Wellness Nutrition, Beauty Cosmetics/Skincare, and Home Care Cleaning.

One of my favorites is a company called Send Out Cards that have greeting cards and gifts and a system to send them out automatically from the internet.

What is a Pyramid Scheme?

A Pyramid Scheme is an illegal business model where participants are offered monetary incentives for recruiting new members, who in turn must pay fees to join or buy products. The scheme relies on recruiting members, rather than selling products, to generate profits. Participants in a Pyramid Scheme only make money by continuously enrolling and maintaining new members in the scheme.

The main problem with Pyramid Schemes is that they are unsustainable. As more people join the scheme, there become fewer and fewer potential recruits available, eventually leading to its demise. This type of scheme relies heavily on an ever-increasing recruitment pyramid to be successful, which is not possible in the long run.

Pyramid Schemes are often confused with Multi-Level Marketing MLM companies such as Young Living. Unlike a Pyramid Scheme, MLM companies focus on selling products to consumers while also rewarding members for their efforts in recruiting new members into their network.

MLM companies have rules and regulations designed to protect their customers and discourage unlawful practices such as Pyramid Schemes, which may attempt to disguise themselves as legitimate MLM businesses.

It’s important to do your research before joining any company offering unusual incentives for recruitment activities. These schemes can be incredibly damaging both financially and emotionally if you are scammed out of your hard-earned money and time by taking part in them. Make sure any company you choose has reliable customer service and policies that protect your rights as a consumer.
